Garnet Sand Exporter

We offer the garnet sand abrasive media for blasting applications. In terms of Quality, abrasive Garnet is much better than slag. In addition, it is safe as it has no health issues like silica sand. Due to these benefits, Garnet is now the preferred blasting media. As abrasive Garnet is crushed from hard rock, it will be of higher density, sharper, and wider size ranges suitable for use in various blasting applications.

Abrasive Garnet

Abrasive Garnet is mined from Almandine mineral deposit sources. The Almandine abrasive Garnet is the hardest and heaviest of all the garnet types in its own group, which makes it an ideal abrasive grain for many industrial applications especially for blasting applications.

Garnet Sand

Garnet sand is mined as an industrial mineral, but it is valued primarily for its many industrial applications. Abrasive Garnet Sand is the most versatile natural blasting & cutting medium available in the international market today. Its inherent physical and chemical uniformity gives better performance and its repeatability makes it perfectly suitable for the blasting industry. Abrasive Garnet Sand is gradually displacing the other substitute blasting media because of its environment-friendly utility and reusability thus eliminating the health risks associated with other conventional blasting media.

Abrasive Garnet Sand is available in a range of tightly screened abrasive blasting products to suit every application and site requirement.

Garnet Sand is one of the most important natural abrasive materials which has stable chemical properties and high hardness and toughness. Garnet sand is highly dense, hard, sharp, and free of heavy metals or toxic components.

Mixed with very high-pressure water, garnet is used to cut steel and other materials in water jets. For water jet cutting, garnet extracted from hard rock is suitable since it is more angular in form and, therefore more efficient in cutting.

Qualities of abrasive garnet :

  • High density
  • Sharper edges
  • Very strong blasting performance
  • Good surface profile
  • Suitable for the heavy coating & rusty removing ability.

The standard grades of garnet abrasive media for blasting media are 12/40, 20/40, 30/60,20/60 mesh.

These are different sizes of abrasive garnet that are used frequently in the blasting industry:-

Size Surface profile
12/40 Mesh 100-150 microns
20/40 Mesh 75-100 micron
20/60 Mesh 50-90 microns
30/60 Mesh 50-75 microns

Material properties:-

Bulk density 2.31g/cm3,
Specific gravity 4.10

Application of Garnet

Sand Blasting:

In this method of surface preparation, Garnet Sand is blasted on to the surface of the element with the utilized of high pressure compressed air. This method produces a profile, which in turn assists in the distension the life of the coating. Garnet Sand is the designated abrasive for oil companies, petrochemical tank works, offshore policies, pipelines, heavy machinery servicing, mechanical parts cleaning and industrial shipbuilding organizations.

Water Jet Cutting:

This is one of the most advanced and fast-growing cutting technologies used by steel companies to cut metals correctly and precisely. Owing to its more active productivity, non-heat producing services & lower cost, it is popular in the USA and Europe. Abrasive Garnet is the unique abrasive that can be practiced in waterjet cutting equipment, generally used in the cutting of marble, granite, artificial stones, concrete, aluminum, titanium, high strength mild steel & steel bridges decking, automotive glass, textiles, folded boxboard, plastic laminates, aerospace components, etc.,

Water Filtration:

Because of its unique texture structure, Garnet sand is also used as a filtering media in water treatment facilities.

Other Applications:

  1. For stone washing of denim fabrics, Garnet Abrasive (stone) gives only fading of color without breaking the cloth.
  2. Applied in Industrial Flooring for its anti-skid characteristics
  3. Micronized form of Garnet stone is used for cleaning & finishing glass faceplates of televisions, computer monitors and optical glasses. Polishing and Precision Finishing of high-pressure pipes and for decorative engraving or matting of surfaces such as glass, granite, marble.
  4. Also, it is used in high-quality coated and bonded cutters such as abrasive papers, clothes, wheels, etc.,

Abrasive Garnet sand also find wide-ranging applications in various industries which has a special acceptance.
